It’s summertime here in NW Florida and that means festival season is underway so when the wife says “Honey I bought tickets to the Craft Beer Festival” what she means is “I’ve planned your day and you’ll love it”.
25 Breweries and nine Distilleries were represented on the deck of a local favorite restaurant, The FishHouse. With names like Kona Island, Ghost Train, Swamp Head, Braided River, and Wicked Weed there are sure to be some stand-out brews, and there were. My favorite of the day was a BlueBerry Lemon Sour from the beer side and a Bloody Mary made with Texacraft Sour Pickle Vodka located on Spirits Alley. My Wife was partial to the XXI Rasberry Martini and the Pink Lemonade made with Watermelon Vodka from Texacraft.
There were many great brews to taste and something for everyone especially the IPA crowd with 14, (I believe) variations of Hazy, Fruit, and standard IPAs available for tasting and enjoyment.
For the Sailor in me, there were Rum cocktails including a Daiquiri that had fresh Jalapenos in the mix and a Tiki Hurricane which wasn’t bad at all. A newcomer that everyone seemed impressed with was Angels Envy, a Bourbon that was smooth and flavorful.
A good time meeting new friends and fellow craft beer and spirits lovers, now if only all festivals could be this fun and tasty!
Garfield out.
