Shawn Ryan swaps his SIG P365 for the new P385

October 15, 2026

Shawn Ryan has carried some version of SIG's P365 for years, and in his latest everyday-carry video he retires it. His new carry gun is the SIG P385, a pistol he says had not been shown publicly before this video.

The short version

The former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor walks through his whole everyday carry, then saves the gun for the end. He traces his history: a Glock 17 carried at the 3 o'clock position as a CIA contractor (the one he shows belonged to his late best friend), a stippled Glock 19, a short run with the single-stack Glock 43, then the P365, which he calls the gun that changed subcompact carry, and later the higher-capacity P365 Macro.

Ryan says he tested the P385 at SIG about two months before filming and that the pistols arrived the day he recorded. He lists a flat trigger, a textured thumb rest he calls a "gas pedal," an adjustable magazine strap and direct optic mounting without adapter plates. He shows two versions and says he will most likely carry the one with a built-in compensator.

Key points

  • Capacity: Ryan says the P385 takes P320 magazines, holding 17 rounds plus one in the chamber.
  • Size: He places it slightly larger than the P365 Macro and slightly smaller than a Glock 19.
  • Optics: He says it accepts RMR, Delta Point Pro and SIG optics straight on the slide, and ships with tritium night sights.
  • Grip strap: An adjustable magazine strap lets the grip be set for a 17-round or 15-round magazine.
  • Two models: One version has a built-in compensator, which Ryan says is the one he will likely carry.

Bottom line

For carriers who followed Ryan into the P365, this is his case for moving up to a near full-capacity pistol in a carry-sized frame. The specs come from his walkthrough, not from SIG, so check SIG's own listing for final details and pricing.
