I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand fake pockets. Unfortunately, impractical pockets are a rampant problem amongst pants in the women’s section. I’m convinced it’s all a conspiracy to sell overpriced and impractical purses. So that’s why I appreciate a good pack. Lots of space, comfortable to wear and lots of pockets. Let’s see if the Vertx Long Walks Multi-Purpose Waist Pack meets my high standards.
Pros
Convenient
After traveling to and walking around Range Day at SHOT Show, I have lots of good things to say about this pack. The waist pack is convenient for traveling since it keeps my hands free. Plus I can keep necessary items close at hand and they’re easy to access. Second day of SHOT, I can still say I had no shoulder strain. Even after 10+ hours of walking around the multilevel show. For day 3 I added the OCASO Solstice to my daily carry to answer a question. If I need to defend myself, how quickly can I get to my knife? Answer: Less than 2 seconds.

Light Weight
Another thing I love is how light it is. It felt as if I was carrying air. It made navigating Range Day much easier. In fact, my complimentary SHOT Show Range Day bag was heavier than the Vertx MP Pack! With the addition of my Solstice (which is a very sleek and light knife) on day 3 it was hardly noticeable.
Comfortable
To give a fully accurate review, I carried it how I would if I were to wear it day to day. For me, that means as a sling or as a proper tactical fanny pack (you can wear it as part of your chest rig too, however). Either way, it was incredibly comfortable. My shoulder wasn’t sore after walking for hours at the range. Nor was I fatigued after wearing the pack on my waist.

Customizable
Now on to my favorite feature. Not only is the Long Walks MP Pack light, convenient, and comfortable but completely customizable, too. Each pack has a soft Velcro inside for their Tactigami line of gear. Need more pockets? Have a laptop? Or trying to be more organized? They have something for everyone. Whether you’re a hiker, gun owner or busy businessperson. Even the Tactigami add-ons can have other Tactigami modules attached!

Cons
So far, I only have found two drawbacks. Firstly, this pack is not as water resistant as I would have hoped. The contents of my waist pack managed to stay mostly dry while it was drizzling all day at the range. Take note of this if you plan to go for a rainy run.
Secondly, the straps can be annoying if you’re small like me. There is lots of extra material and it’s difficult to secure it out of the way. But that’s just a nitpick.
Final Thoughts
I genuinely love this pack. I’m currently traveling, and I regret not bringing it with me. Jean pockets can only hold so much. However, I do have the Vertx Long Walks Backpack with me and I’ll be doing a review on that soon. Stay tuned.
