Mystery Ranch builds its medic packs around fast access

November 5, 2026

Mystery Ranch organizes its medical bags around one idea: a kit only helps if you can reach what you need quickly. Soldier Systems Daily lays out the line, from a compact kit that rides on a belt or vest up to a 56-liter medic pack.

Key points

  • RATS: The Rapid Access Trauma System is the core frontline bag, with one-handed access, removable internal pockets with clear windows, dedicated IV storage and external access to tourniquets and trauma shears.
  • RATS variants: Jump RATS adds reinforced tie-in points for a parachute harness and redundant closures. NICE RATS rides on the company's NICE Frame for heavier loads, with room below for litters or extraction tools.
  • RFAK and VLAK: The RFAK's medical bundle pulls out while its carrier stays attached by MOLLE. The larger VLAK is for vehicle resupply, mounted by MOLLE or slung over a headrest. Both answered a SOCOM Tactical Combat Casualty Care requirement.
  • ROUS: The largest pack has six removable internal pockets, IV storage, splint sleeves and a load-carriage system for the heaviest loads.

Quick take

This reads as a product overview in the company's own voice rather than a field test, and it gives no prices. It is aimed at working medics, and Mystery Ranch says its Special Projects team can build something custom if a stock pack does not fit.
