This Month in Be Ready!
On the cover – BCM’s RECCE Rifle: Not all AR-15 rifles are created equal, some are definitely better than others. If you are looking for an AR for personal protection, you not only want a rifle which is accurate and reliable, but you want one which gives you an edge. In the case of Bravo Company’s Recce-16 KMR-A MK2, not only is it very well made from high quality materials but it has actual improvements to the basic design. Or, so I was told. To find out more I decided to see for myself and received an example on a short-term loan for this review. Initially examining the Recce-16 KMR-A MK2 I found it to be a good looking piece. It is light, handy and appears to be well-designed with the needs of the modern rifleman in mind. Starting at the muzzle I noted the Recce-16 has 1/2×28 threads and BCM’s 556 Mod 2 muzzle device. This is intended to primarily provide standard A2 flash suppressor. However, it does feature three small ports and does act as a compensator to provide some added muzzle con- trol. To the rear of this is a low profile steel gas block held in place by two set screws. Surrounding the barrel is BCM’s KMR A15 rail system. This is a lightweight yet rugged rail system with KeyMod slots for mounting accessories. If you prefer the Recce is also available with a handguard with M-LOK slots. KeyMod, was developed by Vltor Weapon Systems and first released through Noveske Rifleworks before being published in the public domain in July 2012.
