Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani has won the mayoral election for the nation’s largest city Tuesday night, beating out former mayor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani took home 50.4 percent of the vote against Cuomo’s 41.6 percent and Sliwa’s 7.1 percent, with an estimated 90 percent of the vote counted, according to the New York Times. The Associated Press called the Virginia governor’s race for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger early Tuesday evening. Jay Jones, the embattled Democratic candidate for attorney general and Ghazala Hashmi, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, also both prevailed against their Republican challengers. Spanberger, the 46-year-old former congresswoman and CIA case officer will become the first female governor of Virginia. Democrat Mikie Sherrill defeated Republican Jack Ciattarelli Tuesday in the 2025 New Jersey gubernatorial election. With 78 percent of votes counted, Sherill led Ciattarelli 56.3 to 43.1 percent, according to the Associated Press.
